Euracert is the first European Quality label for accessible Web sites.
Thanks to the harmonisation work done at the European level by specialised Web Accessibility organisations and with the European Commission support, there are now resources about Web Accessibility considered as common references:
- international guidelines (WCAG 1.0 from WAI),
- an evaluation methodology (UWEM),
- and a conformity assessment schema (CEN Workshop Agreement).
The Euracert label has been set up on the basis of these common references in order to allow recognition of labels issued to Web sites in different countries.
London, October 3rd, 2007.
The first international presentation of the Euracert label will take place on Thursday October 4th 2007 at Techshare Expo 2007.
Paris, September 17th, 2007.
For the first time in France, a Website which was awarded for the quality of its accessibility has got a transnational recognition in Europe. Indeed, the corporate Website of "Gaz de France" (www.gazdefrance.com) - which was awarded the AccessiWeb label (level Bronze) - has just been awarded the Euracert label (level A) in France by the association BrailleNet.
Thanks to this Euracert label which is based on the European methodology UWEM 1.0, the accessibility of this Website is now recognized in Belgium, in France and in Spain.
Finally, the Euracert label and its labellised Websites will be introduced in London during the Techshare Expo from 4 till 5 October 2007.
